quick update. we dropped that cold blooded UNISON EP to start off that war and then we’re putting our gloves on and dropping this hot-to-death EP by Valance Drakes AKA MuSsCk  next month! while that dude has records coming out all year long, that’s how all of those electronic dudes do until they find a real label home that either enslaves them for $2,000 like Mush Records or buys them a house in 2 countries of their choice like Warp Records. either way, he’s family so it’s all good and you will hear a full length from the kid sooner than later.

the movie Peepers is out in select regions and at film festivals and the honorable Juan Huevos has a song in the movie. it’s about vouyers and such, so be prepared for freak shit on the MTL (montreal) streets and rooftops! too bad montreal kind of sucks these days. that’s what happens when good places get gentrified and good people move north, south, east and west. it’s a great movie and the producer is the shizznit!

we have some records dropping by Bruxelles finest (L.E.G) and what we can bet will be the new 2 man folktronic rock sensation (Ellul) this october. I wanted to re-release La Cita Strobe for real, but our shady digital aggregator (IODA) is making our job way harder for us than necessary. uh, more than one dude wants to clown around on the underground with us these days. we’ll see if they actually follow through and turn in records. the new Calamalka project is banging though, no question with that. s.h.a.r.k. BAIT sounds like some shit I would buy and I’m not even kind of done yet. our store is up and running, temporarily replacing our fabled free download section of yore. we still intend to reboot that whole thing, but this time with a more selective process. we had somewhere around 17 free records running and all that we got out of it was crashed servers and a 1/4 of our roster (at that time) abandoning ship. this time, we will come with all sorts of mysterious thizzles for you to play in amazement while wondering why the shit isn’t sold thru some panacea like iTunes or in physical format for you to hold in your hand, while scoffing at the price tag. we need money for a publicist so we can compete with these other pussy clot crews and labels and the people who want to emulate their “successes” or whatever you call it.
the b.e.a.r. group is like Death Row Records back in the day when Suge got on t.v. and said to whomever listening to sign to the row unless you want your label boss dancing in your video and rapping all over your songs. I got that beat, you don’t even SEE me half of the time. it’s like I operate from an invisible lighthouse on the sea of tranquility on some Dr. Manhattan crevery…….

that being said, our “cover your mouth while talking into the phone” imprint named RAID just reissued the soncially picturesque EP by Deneir entitled “Nowhen” and it has a remix by Autechre on it for all of you Warp Records heads out there . Both he and the group Ellul came over to our evil sect from the sunny skies at Sounds Are Active and we welcome them aboard. The Ellul record will drop on B.E.A.R. later this year, we haven’t dropped a record thru THAT arm since Marks In Angles! Crunc Tesla’s album with the long foreign name comes out on the 22nd of this month and hopefully he hasn’t been buried in a shallow grave by an errant lover or famous person by the time it drops! Just kidding. Not about the album, but the other stuff.

in other news related to the b.e.a.r. group, the LONG AWAITED EP by our most beloved couple Unison finally drops digitally July 13th and if there is justice in the world and drugs, physically at a date to be determined as well. we just love the hell out of these folks and are honored that they are the ones to carry the Matte Black flag forward. expect insanely big things from them in the near future and if you see our name next to theirs, its because that’s where it belongs….

I’m finishing up part one of my new record, the shit is normal but abnormal. like a weird teacher or your friend’s odd uncle or that one dude who was too old to kick it with you and your friends, but did it anyway and still fit in even though he was 21 and you were 16? like that….

I live between these four places and do damage there as well. HERE is proof of such a thing and the other underlying evidence known as s.h.a.r.k. bait is 33% complete. oh yeah, this isn’t the “new” website that I have been babbling about for over a year, BTW. Robby AKA Robin Steel has given us a more sleek and streamlined ninja look for the 1 and the 0, complete with a store that will hold SOME of our releases…. A lot of stuff should stay hard to find, as hard to find as the people that make it! The triple stage darkness site is still on the way and it’s a good thing like everything else that comes to those who wait. I just saw Disruption and Debruit in Manchester and Lando Kal is lurking around somewheres with his lady in hopes of landing a pad in Berlin. Dizzy Deb said the same, so I guess we will be bombing the bear city this fall after all! I have the worst toothache you know about and turn that link up. We have some new bangers dropping this month and we pumped breaks on a couple in anticipation for bigger and better things. I’ll use this space to say that while I am discontinuing my “seasonal” exploits after one season, it is to concentrate on making a SICK new album as well as other equally morbid and putrid guest features and other…. secret projects. when the homie sent this picture over in response to this dude still having a deal when no rapper can release a record, I damned near blacked out laughing. at least he still has a career courtesy of rich white people. if you looked at his myspace page and used that as a meter, he’s released records on more labels than me. shit, he’s even done something for B.E.A.R. (dell or kev, have you seen this record? I haven’t. ever.) according to him! anyway, when we were talking about the state of interesting rap music or whatever and kiki came up, we both marveled at the fact that not only does he still have a record deal with what is viewed as a “reputable label”, but the nigga is allowed to tour foreign terrain multiple times in a season! then I listened to the record again and thought to myself that the picture must be his press pic because ONLY Harry Potter himself could base so successful a career off of something so non-accessible. what was that single off of his record called again? exactly.
