this is to show you what is waiting for you if you go get a record deal off the strength of one song. this is your competition and they barely even have to sing a song, so you had better be prepared with an exploding chicken or a guest appearance by Gary Coleman, Bill Murray or Tyra Banks or some type of thing. first it was that new song by Unison that had me sprung to the point of disbelief and then an old german lady saw me in the park today and threw up her fist while screaming "OBAMA, OBAMA!" and I was juiced. once I saw this, I was even more hyped because I know how the industry works and I figure these dudes will be playing next year's South By, even if they DON'T have an album out! if their plan is to let the homie just come out on stage like DJ Kool and do 16 words of a hook and dance around for a while, then I may as well retire again.
As it is, this format of the blog/site is getting a short retirement any day now in favor for a spa treatment and facelift. we will have a whole new format on there rocking away, as well as this dedicated section for these kooky downloads we keep hitting you over the head here and there. as always, we have some stuff in the works and the comp is making it's way down the pipe slowly but surely. the matte black EDITIONS gang will be on there as well as some briefcase rockers and maybe even a couple of "alumni" as well!
in check in news, I got a record dropping in russia next month called "nerves of ice" and it's a mix of old and new material. old being stuff from the first half of the 2K millenium and the new being stuff from the 2nd half. some of the stuff has been heard, but not by most folks and the other stuff is crev detail, so it's moving. I made a lot of beats, small is beautiful made 2 beats and a couple of other folks did one or two. I hear huevos, calamalka and BD1982 have lots of material ready and low leaf said she was going to drop a EP last week but she probably ate a weed brownie and forgot. no one has heard from debmaster since he went to egypt and look out for the matteblackeditions.com "blog and other" site we have prepped to come up. AND the 2nd radio show is turned in and should drop NEXT WEEK....
